Events Current Events The Leat at Bradgate Park Walk This walk offers you the opportunity to walk through the park whilst exploring one of its little-known features, still hidden in plain sight: how in the 16th century water was supplied to Bradgate House, situated well above the River Lin. We will follow the course of the leat from the Lin to the lake behind the ruins and discuss the work necessary to get the water up from one to the other. Then we learn how this water was used. We end the tour at the Deer Meadow (next to the Deer Barn), where we learn how strictly controlled irrigation encouraged the lush grass which the deer still enjoy today. The walk is about 1¼ miles, some of it over rough ground, some short gentle climbs. You will need to make your own way back from the Deer Meadow to the car park (1 mile). This walk will take place irrespective of weather conditions. Appropriate clothing and footwear are therefore recommended Car Parking charges apply [card & cash accepted] and are not included in the ticket price. Dogs are allowed but must be held on leads at all times during this walk.
